Hypertension
is one of the commonest diseases in the world, affect up to 60% of those aged over 60 years old.
The majority of HTN is chronic, unknown cause ( essential ).
HTN mean increase systemic blood pressure > 140 / 90 mmHg.
Ophthalmic features include:
- Retinal arteriolosclerosis.
- Branch retinal vein occlusion.
- Retinopathy.
- Retinal artery occlusion.
- Retinal artery macro aneurysm.
- Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy.
- Choroidal infarcts.
- ocular motor nerve palsies.
- Exudative retinal detachment ( with eclampsia ).
